Christmas Tree Card Sewing Project
 
Use your sewing machine to create a card for the holidays. Stitching done with the help of SINGER®  makes the greeting card extra special.

Supplies:

  • Singer Futura™ CE-250 Sewing & Embroidery Machine 
  • ¼ yard off-white linen fabric
  • ¼ yard tear-away stabilizer
  • yard fusible interfacing
  • One spool green rayon thread
  • One spool gold metallic thread
  • One spool bobbin thread
  • One package 5mm pink stick-on rhinestones
  • One 5" x 7" pink card blank
  • One sheet pink printed paper
  • ¼ yard ⅜" wide striped pink ribbon
  • Corner paper punch
  • Fabric and paper glue

Cut:

  • One 9" x 12" piece linen fabric
  • One 8" x 11" piece stabilizer
  • One 4½" x 6½" piece pink printed paper; then cut an oval centered and ¾" from top edge
Directions:
  1. Set the Futura™ CE-250 machine for machine embroidery. Select  Open a Design from Design Library. Select var_1003  (Christmas Tree design) and click on the design. Then click OK.

  2. Click and drag design to place in embroidery field. On tool bar, click on Design. On the drop down menu click on Change Size. Put a P in the % box and reduce the X box to be 75. Be sure to P activate stitch processor box.  Then click OK.  Center design in embroidery field.

  3. Edit design by deleting blocks 3 and 4.

  4. Hoop fabric with tear-away stabilizer underneath it in large hoop. Attach hoop to machine.

  5. Place green rayon thread in needle.  Wind bobbin with bobbin thread.  

  6. Click Transmit to machine icon on toolbar. Machine Navigator box pops up. Click Send design to the machine. Press Start button and stitch block one (the tree) with green thread.

  7. Remove green thread and replace with gold metallic thread. Stitch only the star above the tree in block two, omitting all ornaments.

  8. Remove hoop from machine. Remove embroidered fabric piece from hoop.

  9. Press piece gently from the wrong side.

  10. Trim piece to measure 4½" x 5½", making sure tree is centered. HINT: Place paper oval opening over embroidered fabric piece to be sure tree is properly positioned before cutting.

  11. Place a piece of fusible interfacing to the wrong side of embroidered tree; fuse in place following manufacturer’s directions.

  12. Place green rayon thread in the needle.  Set machine to a medium zig-zag stitch.

  13. Center embroidered tree in oval opening of pink printed paper.

  14. Stitch around entire oval connecting the tree to the paper. Pull thread ends to the back side and tie securely. Trim threads.

  15. Trim each corner of the paper unit with desired corner paper punch.

  16. Center and glue unit to front of greeting card.

  17. Attach stick-on pink rhinestones to tree and tree top (see photo for placement).

  18. Tie ribbon into a bow and glue at bottom of oval. Trim ribbon ends as desired.
