Headbands

With the bob hairdo back in style, headbands are sure to be a popular fashion accessory this spring among women of all ages. For a unique look, try covering inexpensive plain bands with specialty fabrics, unusual trims, novelty buttons, Glamour iron-on Rhinestones or machine embroidery. These are easy enough to make several in an afternoon.

Supplies
  • Scraps of fabric
  • Headband bones
  • Trims, buttons, rhinestones, embroidery, etc….
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hand needles and thread
  • Tailor’s chalk
  • Scraps of iron-on interfacing
Directions
  1. With scrap fabric wrong side up, place headband on fabric and mark outline with chalk.

  2. Mark a broken line for cutting ½” from solid marking line. Cut out along broken line

  3. Using this piece as a pattern, Cut out iron-on interfacing and press to wrong side of headband cover fabric.

  4. Decorate the interfaced piece with your choice of accessories.

  5. Hot glue the wrong side of the cover to the right side of the headband.

  6. Carefully turn the edges to the underside with hot glue.

  7. Hot glue a piece of grosgrain ribbon in place along the inside to cover the facing seams.
