"Vintage K-Card" Project

This card has an understated, vintage feel that gives a more traditional finish. It could easily be adapted for other occasions such as a golden anniversary or wedding congratulations.

Supplies:
  • Ultimate Crafter’s Companion System
  • 2 sheets of letter size gold pearl card plus extra offcuts for matting & layering
  • A piece of ivory pearl card
  • A selection of fabric flowers in creams & browns
  • Fabric leaves
  • A selection of crystal brads
  • Silicone glue
  • Coordinating glitter glue
  • Sticker or die-cut letters
  • Die-cuts or decorative accents
  • Craft knife
  • Double-sided tape

Directions:

  1. Take out the instruction manual from inside the tool and refer to page 10 for fully detailed, step-by-step, photographed instructions on how to create a half- U.S.-letter size K-card base. Using the 2 pieces of gold pearl card, score one as a basic half-fold and the second as a four-fold accordion card.

  2. Place the accordion-scored card over top of the arched window aperture and line up the first scoreline with the raised pegs marking the center of the shape. (Equivalent to step 2 of the instructions on page 10 of the booklet, but with an alternative shape.)

  3. Once you have embossed the shape onto your card, proceed to assemble the base card as shown in the instructions. Then place the card down on a cutting mat and using a sharp craft knife, cut through the double layer of card against the embossed guideline (as indicated in Step 4 of the booklet)

  4. Score a second arch onto the plain ivory card and cut around the inside of the embossed line. Using double-sided tape, position this over the front aperture of the K-card which protrudes through the front of the card. This will strengthen the aperture and hide the crease down the center.

  5. Edge the outline of the arch using glitter glue to add a festive touch and also to hide any uneven cutting! Using a selection of fabric or paper flowers, layer some blooms together and secure them with the crystal brads. Build up a display in the centre of the arch, making sure nothing hangs over the edges. Silicone glue is perfect for this to slightly vary the depth of the flowers. It also gives time for adjustment, as it will take a couple of hours to harden. Also add some blooms to the outer edges of the card front.

  6. Cut a panel from the ivory card to fit on one of the inner panels of the K-card. Mat onto this a panel of the gold and position your greeting onto this. Stick this to the inner panel of the card. To add some finishing touches, add some die-cut flourishes or any other embellishments you may have to compliment your sentiment.
