• 2½” x 37” gold silk dupioni
• 4” x 37” teal silk dupioni
• 3½” x 37” fuchsia silk dupioni
• 14” x 14” fuchsia silk dupioni for pillow back
• 9” x 37” fusible interfacing
• 14” pillow form
• 1⅛ yard of ½” wide teal satin ribbon
• 1⅛ yard of 1” wide brocade trim
• 1¾ yard of fringed trim
• All-purpose thread for construction (fushia color thread)
• Rayon threads for decorative sewing (Select spools of gold, fuchsia and/or teal thread)
• Pearl crown rayon or crochet thread for decorative sewing (Select spools of gold, fuchsia and/or teal)
• 1¼” button 

Machine Set-Up:

• Set Stitch Selector to Straight Stitch.
• Set Stitch Length to medium.
• Set Stitch Width to Straight Stitch.
• Set Needle Position Selector to the Center position.
• Attach General Purpose Foot.

Directions for Pillow:

1. Thread the machine with all-purpose thread. 
   
2. With right sides together, and using a ¼” seam, sew one long edge of the gold silk strip to one long edge of the fuchsia silk strip.
   
3. With right sides together, and using a ¼” seam, sew the teal silk strip to the other long edge of the fuchsia silk strip.
   
4. Press seams open. 
5. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, apply fusible interfacing to the wrong side to the pieced strips. 
   
6. Sew the brocade trim along the seam of the teal and fuchsia pieces.
   
7. Change the Pattern Select Dial to a Decorative Stitch, such  as the Thorn Stitch, Chevron Stitch, Honeycomb Stitch or other decorative stitch. Change Stitch Length accordingly.
   
   Sewing Tip: The Special Purpose Foot is a transparent foot that has a grooved bottom. This groove allows for thread built-up in decorative stitches. Because the foot is clear it is easy to see through the foot, which is especially important when appliquéing, or sewing on trims or ribbons. See your SINGER retailer for more information.  
   
   
8. Sew the satin ribbon on the gold strip.  
   
9. Using a variety of decorative stitches, create rows of stitching to embellish the fabrics. Use different rayon thread colors as desired.
   
   Sewing Tip: To add more dimension to your decorative stitching, try winding the pearl crown rayon onto the bobbin. Select a decorative stitch, such as wide Zig-zag. Flip the fabric face down and stitch. The bobbin thread is now on the fabric’s right side, adding texture and interest to the fabric. 
   
   
10. Cut the strip into four 8” x 8” squares.  
    
11. Rotate the squares to resemble the drawing. 
    
12. Change the Pattern Selector Dial to Straight Stitch.
    
13. Change the Stitch Width to straight. 
    
14. Using a ½” seam, sew the squares together.
    
15. Press seams open.

Directions for the Trim:

1. Pin the trim to the outside edges of the pillow top, having the edge of the trim within the seam allowance.
   
2. Sew the trim to the pillow top using a ½” seam.  

 Finishing the Pillow:

1. Place the pillow back to the pillow front, right sides together and pin in place. 
   
2. Stitch using a ½” seam, leaving about 10” opening on one side.
   
3. Turn right side out.  
   
4. Insert pillow form. 
   
5. Hand sew the opening closed. 
   
6. Hand sew the button to the center of the pillow.
